Meddle – International Conference, 2013

What’s a Meddle?
Each Meddle is a unique gathering of brilliant people, invited to come together and tackle a specific issue. This is chosen by the first person we invite – the Middle Meddler, as we call them.

The issue can be anything, in any field, on any scale. It might be a negative issue we want to help people overcome. Or something positive we’d like to see more widely promoted and embraced.

Once the topic is fixed, we start to gather more names: smart, influential people interested in the topic, who enjoy collaborative problem-solving. (Or as we call it – meddling.)

Soapbox & Sons have been acting Creative Director on this new project working across the branding, event management and PR.

Creating change
The aim of each Meddle is to conceive, develop and present something that ‘moves the needle’ on the chosen issue. It might be a website or a white paper. It might be a product prototype. It might be a schools roadshow. Who knows? Each group of meddlers will set their own goal.

Everyone involved will have an audience of their own, and we involve these people too. They might be invited to follow the meddle in real time through social media. Or they might get actively involved in generating and responding to ideas. It’ll be different each time.

Meddling worldwide
We curate and facilitate the event. We choose a wonderful location – which could be anywhere worldwide – and handle all the logistics of travel, catering, accommodation and so forth. And we document the whole process, using our own writers, film-makers and designers. This helps us spread the word about meddling, and will hopefully inspire others to suggest new Meddles.

Meddle #1
Our first Meddle is happened in England, at Temple Guiting Manor in the beautiful Cotswolds.
